James Henry Vance Sr., 85 , of Luna Pier, Michigan passed away on Sunday July 28, 2019 in his home. He was born in Luna Pier, MI, on January 20, 1934 to Patrick and Alma (Tigner) Vance.

Jim attended Luna pier Schools and in 1955, He married the love of his life, JoAnn DuVall on October 29, 1955. He was then drafted in the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country for two years and also the U.S. National Guard for four years.

Jim was employed with the CSX railroad for over 42 years, retiring in 1993. He worked part time with the city of Luna Pier and a member of the Luna Pier Fire Department.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved his Michigan Wolverines.
In 1995 they moved to Baldwin, Michigan then moving back to Luna Pier in 2015.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Benjamin, Joseph, Clyde and Thomas Sr.; sisters, Margaret, Betty, Ida, Fannie, Helen, Ester and Lola.
Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, JoAnn; sons, James Henry Jr. and Samuel Vance; daughters, LuAnn Vance, Vickie Pollock; grandchildren, Amy Lynn (Brian) Fish , Brandi (Dan) Redford , Brooke Vance, Samuel Lawrence Vance Jr.; great-grandchildren, Brendan, Arron, Hannah and Cameron Fish, Garrett, Brantley and Teagan Redford; sisters, Lorena (Tom) Deburyne, Sharon Russell, Patricia Nevers, Gloria Kruger, Diane (Bill) Mc Cormick, Shirley (Jack) Minton and JoAnn (David) Clucky;
Visitation for James will be held at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Road (at Jackman Rd.) Temperance, Michigan, on Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 11:00am, where services will be held at 2:00pm. Memorial contributions to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 would be greatly appreciated.
